Palace
Architects has been commissioned by Palace Engineering Services to
establish the preliminary design of the surface buildings of the Lima
Pumped storage scheme as part of the preliminary design of the scheme
undertaken by the BKS-Palace consortium in association with WMH. The
surface buildings consist of the Administration building and the Visitors
Centre.

The proposed
general approach for the preliminary design of the building work is
to regroup the main surface buildings of the scheme around the visible
part of the scheme. Therefore, the Administration Building and the
Visitors’ Centre are located on both sides of the Main Access
Tunnel (MAT) portal, making it the main feature of the overall layout.
The general composition, besides a common architectural theme, allows
for optimized organization of access roads, security and functionality.
The
same access road leads to the Visitors’ Centre, without security
check and to the main security checkpoint, controlling all accesses
to the Administration Building and the MAT. The proximity of the buildings
shall also allow for sharing of equipments such as chillers plant,
water treatment plant and drainage, cable routes to and from the underground
facility.
Finally,
the common architectural theme, while unifying the buildings of the
scheme, is developed to ensure environmental integration, corporate
identification and working environment quality.
